The Fight Against Human Trafficking
The Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island, New York is a 501(c)(3) non-profit human service agency. They were founded in 2015 by five women who sought to bring trauma informed education to Long Island for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, incarceration, homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, poverty, gang and community violence.
Their mission is strongly rooted with our own in bringing love, compassion, the human connection, and building a community of supportive individuals to rise to the occasion and empower one another. ECLI works with professionals and companies like us, to help bring trauma certified services to their clients as they prepare for a new path of health, healing, and fulfillment.

About Human Trafficking
Worldwide, at any given moment, an estimated 40.3 million people are being victimized in situations of trafficking and exploitation. 25% of these are children (Source). In the United States alone, 800,000 children go missing every year (source). Today, one in every six children are victims of human trafficking (source). At Llamaste, part of our contribution is spreading awareness of these facts and educating our community to the best of our ability. This is the first step in fighting and combating the human trafficking epidemic. To learn more, we recommend visiting the source links above or contacting us here for information on our next upcoming educational lecture.
How It Affects You and Our Community
Human trafficking can occur in the blink of an eye during the most unexpected times in everyday life. It can happen when your child is wandering around the grocery store, while your child is walking home from school, or even at the hands of those closest to you. Educating yourself, teaching your children safety protocols, and becoming aware of its impact in today's society is the first step in preventing it. Together, we can keep our community safe and free from harm.
